Malaria claims 17 in Arunachal
Itanagar, June 6 (UNI) Seventeen people have died of malaria and jaundice at Deomali and its surrounding villages under Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, official sources said here today.
Official sources, while confirming the deaths, claimed that the situation has been brought under control. Tirap District Medical Officer (DMO) Dr N Singh said that preventive steps were being taken to bring the situation under control.
He said medical teams have been sent to the affected villages to collect blood samples and conduct test for PF malaria.
Medicines were distributed to the patients, besides spraying DDT, and organising mass awareness programmes.
