Industry reinforces commitment to sports

New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) Reiterating its commitment towards uplift of sports in the country, CII today assured complete collaboration for the 2008 Youth Commonwealth Games in Pune and 2010 Commonwealth Games in the Capital.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) president R Seshasayee today hosted a luncheon meeting in the honour of Commonwealth Games Federation president Michael Fennell.

Outlining the role of business and sports, Mr Fennell stated business was a powerful tool and its engagement with sports events ensured a valuable legacy both in terms of leaving behind a physical infrastructure and enabling peoples' development.

Speaking on the occasion, IOA president and 2010 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi said the visiting mission's first meeting was being held with the CII, which highlighted the top priority sports accorded to business and industry.
