Incessant rains paralyses life in Jharkhand
Jamshedpur, June 6 (UNI) At least five people have died so far following heavy rains that lashed many parts of the state including the steel city here for the last 48 hours.
Four people, including a child, have been killed after the wall of a school building collapsed at Jugsalai area here on Sunday evening. Another person was killed and two were injured, when lightning struck them at Dimna area here last evening.
Incessant pre-monsoon rains also resulted in flash floods in the catchments areas of Kharkai and Subarnarekha rivers.
A portion of the wall at Saint Mary's school at Bisturpur area collapsed yesterday but no one was injured, police said.
Local meteorological office recorded a rainfall of 52.6 mm during the last 24 hours and predicted more rain fall during the next 24 hours also.
