Haryana achieved target in implementing Annual Plan 2005-06

Chandigarh, Jun 6 (UNI) A majority of the departments of the Haryana government have achieved 90 percent target in implementing the Annual Plan 2005-06 which was pegged at Rs 3007 crore by the Planning Commission of India and later it was revised to Rs 3059.40 crore.

This was disclosed by state Chief Secretary Prem Prashant while presiding over a meeting held here today to review the performance of the State Plan.Consultant to the Planning Commission Mrs Kiran Aggarwal and Administrative Secretaries of various departments attended the meeting.

In his address Mr Prashant stressed the need to ensure the proper and hundred percent utilization of the allocated funds to the departments. He pointed out that GDP growth rate was 8.4 percent during 2004-05 and efforts should be made to speed up the growth of GDP.

The Chief Secretary maintained that the thrust areas should be identified and special attention should be given towards the promotion of health, education and power system in the state. He suggested that a comprehensive plan should be formulated so that optimum assistance could be sought from the Planning Commission for the development of the state.

Mr Prashant suggested that a interaction system should be developed for improving the quality of works. He informed that a meeting with the Planning Commission would be held on June 28 and 29 at Chandigarh for reviewing the Annual Plan of 2005-06 and discussing the strategy for the Eleventh Five Year Plan.

He directed Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Mr Bhaskar Chatterjee to hold two brain storming sessions before the meeting of Planning Commission to evolve basic strategy on thrust areas like social sector and infrastructure sector. He said that experts should be invited from various Universities, PHD Chamber of Commerce and CII for giving their valued suggestions in this meeting.
