Govt considering setting up dedicated force for VIP security

New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) The Home Ministry is considering creating a dedicated force to provide security to important individuals including prominent politicians.

The proposal was mooted at a meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Home Ministry being held in Nainital, Uttaranchal today, an official release said here today.

The item of the discussion at the meeting chaired by Home Minister Shivraj Patil was 'Personal Security (Security provided by the Government).' Taking part in the deliberations, members made valuable suggestions on the issue. The Home Minister assured the members of carefully considering all their suggestions including creation of a dedicated force for the security of important individuals.

Members present at the meeting included Debabrata Biswas, Urkho Gwra Brahma, Raj Mohinder Singh and Dr K Malaisamy of the Rajya Sabha, and Madan Lal Sharma, Manoranjan Bhakta, Mohanbhai Delkar, Brajesh Pathak, Mohan Singh and Dhirendra Agrawal of the Lok Sabha.

Ministers of State for Home Manik Rao Gavit and Sriprakash Jaiswal, Home Secretary V K Duggal and Director Intelligence Bureau E L Narsimhan were among those present at the meeting.
