Fire mishap in 10 MW transformer

Hubli, June 6 (UNI) Fire broke out in a ten MW transformer at Nargund town in Gadag district of Karnataka this morning, causing a heavy loss to the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited.

The fire spread to the whole unit and all 11 feeder control panels were totally damaged. Fire fighters arrived at the spot and doused the blaze. There was no loss to life or property.

Though sources said failure to trip the line in breaker while feeding the rural line might have caused the blaze, the reason behind the mishap was being investigated.
