DSGMC stresses on acquainting youth with Sikh Heritage
New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management committee today stressed on the need for weaning the new generation from apostacy and intoxicants and acquainting them with their rich history and heritage.
Addressing a congregation of Sikhs at the Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib during the observance of the fourth centenary of the Martrydom of Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Sikh guru, DSGMC president Harvinder Singh Sarna called upon the Sikh saints to visit rural areas of Punjab to wean away the new generation from apostasy and intoxicants and acquaint them with their rich history and heritage.
''The SGPC has failed to perform its religious obligations in Punjab. That is why the new generation has gone astray and indulging in apostasy and intoxicants under the influence of Western culture,''Mr Sarna said.
''The Sikh saints should fan out in Punjab villages to bring the new generation to the Panthic mainstream,''he said.
