Bus brakes fail, 3 die, 22 hurt

Indore, June 6 (UNI) Three passengers -- including a girl -- who jumped off a bus during chaos that ensued after it was learnt that the vehicle's brakes had failed, were crushed by the bus, which was heading for Udaynagar from here but plowed into a mountain in this district injuring 22 persons including the driver, police said.

After the ill-fated vehicle left the Military Headquarters Of War (MHOW) area and reached the vicinity of Nachanbur Ghat's Bheru Baba temple last evening, the driver realised to his horror that the bus had suffered brake failure. As the vehicle lurched out of control, the passengers panicked.

The deceased were identified as Mujubai (13), Yashoda Bai (23) and Suraj Patelia (22) while the injured were admitted to different hospitals here.
