BJP protests petrol, diesel hike

Phagwara, June 6 (UNI) Hundreds of activists of BJP and Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) led by former Punjab minister Swarana Ram today held a demonstration against the Union Government's decision to increase the prices of petrol and diesel.

Seated on bullock carts and 'rehris' the demonstrators including women took out a procession in the town.They also blocked vehicular traffic on National Highway-1 and burnt effigies of Congress leaders including Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

They later submitted a memorandum to local SDM Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal.
