'Better work culture can speed up devp'
Bhopal, June 6: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said better work culture is required for speeding up development works.
Addressing BSNL's prize distribution programme, Mr Chouhan said, ''No work is small or big. Every work should be done with full accountability.'' He lauded the company's efforts for expansion of telecom services in the state, particularly in rural areas.
BSNL Director (Finance) S D Saxena, who chaired the programme, said the company was engaged in the work of connecting the whole country and did not aim at reaping profits but at providing better services to consumers.
''BSNL's services are being provided even in under-developed and developing rural areas,'' he said.
BSNL Chief General Manager (MP Telecom Circle) R P Hans said BSNL had succeeded in providing around 1.20 lakh mobile, 85,000 WLL and 26,000 broadband connections in 2005-06.
The company aimed at setting up 1,000 new towers and providing 10 lakh new connections in 2006-07. Besides, BSNL coverage would be available in every village with 2,000-strong population by 2007.
Around 30,000 connections of 'Data One' -- BSNL's broadband service -- has been set up across 35 districts.
He added that telephone connections would be set up in 700 gram panchayats, while MARR telephones in all villages would be converted into WLL telephones.
