Jaipur, June 5 (UNI) The Rajasthan High Court today ruled that the state government would have to bear the treatment expenses of a retired employee who used to contribute monthly to the special Health Welfare Fund during his tenure.

Judge Ashok Parihar gave the verdict, while admitting the petition of petitioner Boduram Jat, who underwent a bypass heart surgery.

Jat's advocate Mukesh Agrawal said Jat retired from the education deaprtment on Jan 31, 2001 and started living in his village.

In 2004, Jat had to undergo a bypass heart surgery at Jaipur's Sawai mansingh Hospital which cost him Rs 1.8 lakh. He submitted the bills to the Education department who refused to clear his bills.

This was despite Jat contributing to the Health Welfare Fund monthly during his tenure.

After hearing the case, the court ruled that it was wrong on the part of the state government to refuse paying Jat's bills when he used to pay every month for medical help.

The court instructed the state government to clear the bills within 30 days along with Rs 10,000 for the case expenses.
