Goa Govt bans 'The Da Vinci Code' with immediate effect
Panaji, June 5 (UNI) Goa government has banned controversial Hollywood fiction film ''The Da Vinci Code'' with effect from today on demand of several catholic organisations in the island state, comprising more than 30 per cent Christian population.
Announcing this at a post-Cabinet briefing session, Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane said he did so, with six other states banning the film which, however, was cleared by the Central Film Censor Board.
The Inox multiplex here, which had screened the film for two days, had to make a hasty retreat by deciding to withdraw screening following uproar and threats of agitation yesterday.
