Kalam to open 37th All India Police Science Cong

Bangalore, June 4: President A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the 37th All India Police Science Congress (AIPSC) here on June 6, Karnataka Director General and Inspector General of Police B S Sial said.

Talking to newspersons here, he said yesterday this was for the first time the President of India would inaugurate the annual Congress.

He said Dr Kalam would deliver the inaugural as well as key-note address besides releasing the Souvenir brought out to mark the occasion.

Mr Sial said that more than 80 delegates from all over the country would participate and deliberate upon 17 papers to be presented at the three-day Congress.

He said the themes of the 37th AIPSC includes Vision for 'Police 2010' and 'Police 2020', training strategy to effect behavioural and attitudinal change in the police personnel and evolution of norms for manpower and logistic requirements at police station, sub-division and at district levels.

Besides Police officers from various parts of the country, academicians, social scientists and others would exchange their views and thoughts on various problems and issues related to the police and its societal obligations to find practical solutions for a better policing.

He said that an exhibition of modern equipment including computerised under cover mines and explosive detection equipment and bomb disposal would be held during the Congress.
