Rajiv's statues to be installed in Haryana towns
Chandigarh, Jun 3 (UNI) The Haryana Congress has decided to instal statues of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in several towns of the state as a homage to the departed Congress stalwart.
These statues would be installed at Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Jind, Rewari, Taori, Nuh, Ballabgarh, Faridabad and Sirsa, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Dr Ram Prakash said at a press conference here today.
''These are the towns visited by Mr Gandhi on May 15 and 17 in 1991 to address election rallies and as a mark of respect to the leader who laid down his life fighting against terrorism, we want to erect his statues,'' the HPCC chief said.
He said the PCC had asked all party MPs, MLAs and activists to extend all cooperation to complete this task at the earliest.
Applauding the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in the state, Dr Ram Prakash said the ruling Congress in the state had fulfilled its poll promise of reinstating the employees whose services were terminated by the former INLD government led by Om Prakash Chautala.
Dr Ram Prakash said the HPCC proposed to hold a workshop of the representatives of different sections of society including the commission agents, trade chambers, other small traders and also the mediapersons to get suggestions on how to check the price rise.
