Pre-monsoon showers give respite from sultry weather
Lucknow, June 3 (UNI) Widespread pre-monsoon showers in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours gave respite to the people grappling with sultry weather in the last several days.
Agricultural scientists have claimed the pre-monsoon rains would prove beneficial for various crops and fruits, including grape in western UP.
The met office said Elginbridge (Barabanki district) recorded the maximum rainfall of 94.4 mm, followed by Gonda 62.6 mm, Jalalabad (Shahjahanpur district) 59.4 mm, Lucknow 56.4 mm, Gorakhpur 54.7 mm, Jhansi 42.7 mm, Chandradipghat 40 mm, Ayodhya 37 mm, Bahraich 31.6 mm and Balrampur 30.2 mm.
Reports of rainfall were also received from Fatehpur, Varanasi, Kanpur, Sultanpur, Agra and Bareilly.
Meanwhile, the weatherman forecast thundershowers in the next 24 hrs at most places in UP.
