Over 24 lakh pilgrims visited Vaishnodevi shrine till May

Jammu, June 3 (UNI) A record number of over 24 lakh pilgrims from different parts of the country visited the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi till May this year.

The spokesman of the Mata Vaishnodevi shrine board told UNI that during the corresponding period last year, 20.39 lakh pilgrims had visited the shrine. .

During the month of May alone, as many as 7,15,077 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine against 6,51,638, who visited during the period last year.

The spokesman said that presently 25,000 to 26,000 pilgrims daily reached the base camp at Katra for their onward journey to the holy cave shrine and added that adequate arrangements have been made by the board and departments for taking care of the comfort of the pilgrims.
