NRI doc offfers to set up hospital
Coimbatore, Jun 3: An NRI doctor has offered to donate Rs 10 crore for setting up a 300-bed hospital in the city.
Announcing this at a press conference here, Coimbatore Medical College (CMC) Hospital Dean Kalanidhi said Dr Azhagiriswamy, a nephrologist settled in the US, had recently contacted him and offered financial help to develop the nephrology department in the CMC Hospital here.
However, due to lack of space in the existing hospital, the Dean suggested setting up a hospital near the college campus where about 100 acre of land was available.
The CMC Hospital had sent a blue print to Dr Azhagiriswamy who agreed to send the funds in three instalments.
The NRI's offer letter had been forwarded to the State Health Ministry for clearance, he added.
