Moitra family in state of shock; avoids media

Mumbai, Jun 3: The Moitra family is in a state of shock and has been avoiding talking to the media about Bibek, who died under mysterious circumstances in New Delhi.

Late Pramod Mahajan's trusted aide Bibek Biman Moitra was brought dead at 0300 hrs yesterday while son Rahul was recovering in the Apollo Hospital, apparently after they had a deadly cocktail of champagne and cocaine at a late night party with three guests.

Moitra's parents, who are in their 60s, and his younger sister, are staying in Kharghar area adjoining Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. His father Biman Moitra is a retired IPS officer from Kolkata. He later served as Chief Security Officer at Godrej.

When the news about their son's death came in, Mr Biman Moitra told the electronic media that Bibek had told them that he would come back after immersing the ashes of th late Pramod Mahajan in Asom.

Bibek, 38, had been working with Mahajan till the latter's death.

The state BJP has deputed a party corporator from Nerul, Bharat Jadhav, to look after the family which is shell-shocked.

Mr Jadhav while talking to UNI said, ''Bibek's parents are not in a state to talk to anybody and I request mediapersons to speak to me for any information and not bother them.'' Meanwhile, the party office bearers and friends are waiting for the arrival of Bibek Moitra's body from Delhi. Party sources said Bibek's body would be received at the airport and then taken to Kharghar.
