Meghalaya Chief Minister appeal for peace

Shillong, Jun 03 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister D.D.Lapang today stressed on creating a peaceful and conducive atmosphere for development in the state in all sectors.

Agitations and law and order problem will negatively affect the process of development, especially in the human resource sector, said the Chief Minister while inaugurating the office of the Umsning PHE Division (Rural Water Supply) at Umsning, Ri Bhoi District.

Mr Lapang appealed to the people, especially the youths, not to be misled by anti-social elements but instead devote time for productive activities, which will contribute to the development of the state as a whole.

Appealing to the people to extend their cooperation with the government so that all round development could be achieved, H.D.R.

Lyngdoh, Minister in-charge for PHE, said the Umsning division would contribute towards achieving the goal of the Central government in providing total water supply to all the villages by 2008-2009.
