HC quashes detention of 8 people

Srinagar, June 3: Jammu and Kashmir High Court has quahed the detention of eight people arrested under Public Safety Act (PSA) for their alleged involvement in militant activities.

The court has ordered their immediate release if they are not sought in any other case.

Justice Hakeem Imtiyaz Hussain quashed the detention order after hearing the arguments from the defence and the public prosecutor.

The court ordered release of Shamim Ahmad Wani, Juma Khatana, Farooq Ahmad Parry, Mohmmad Qasim Piswal, Nazir Ahmad and Khrushid Ahmad Bukhari.

Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakroo also quashed the detention order of Ashiq Hussain Wani of Shalapora, Sopore and Bashir Ahmad Padder of Khiram in Islamabad.
