Jammu, June 3 (UNI) Former Union Minister and BJP leader Chaman Lal Gupta today assailed the Jammu and Kashmir government for not paying attention to the demands of the agitating people of Kulhand and other terror-affected areas of Doda district.

Addressing the demonstrators from Doda and other areas, Prof Gupta said he found it strange that they were staging dharnas for the last 15 days here in front of the office of divisional commissioner, in the wake of the massacre of hindus in Kulhand, but the government was not ready to acknowledge their demands.

He said these people had earlier demonstrated for 15 days at Doda itself but the government had not listened to them. The people were subjected to two grenade attacks in which two workers lost their lives and over 50 others were injured, he added.

Taking a swite at the Congress led government, both in the state as also at the Centre, for adopting a soft appproach towards terrorists Prof Gupta observed the Pak-based ultras are spreading their tentacles beyond the state. The fidayeen attack at the RSS headquarters at Nagpur is the latest example of the dangerous designs of the ultras, he said.

Accusing the government of being devoid of vision and national approach, the BJP leader pointed out that too much eagerness is being shown in opening the routes with Pak-held areas ignoring the fact of history that invaders always entered the state through these routes.

He pointed out that the Chamba-Bhaderwah road and the construction work of Paddar-Pangi road have been stopped although the people of these areas are having marital and other links with Himachal Pradesh.

Prof Gupta said the people of Doda are not alone in their fight against terror and this movement for saving Doda would shortly take the shape of a country-wide stir.
