India finishes fifth in the World Corporate Golf

Kuala Lumpur,June 3 (UNI) The four-member Indian team of McCann Ericson shot the final day's best score of 110 points to jump from an overnight tenth to a finish fifth at the World Corporate Golf Challenge here today.

The Indian team comprised Prashant Bhardwaj, Chuck Kohli, Rajender Prasad and Balkar Singh,finished just two points behind fourth-placed England. Hosts Malaysia made the most of their local knowledge and adaptability to the hot and humid conditions and won the title with a score of 354. They were followed by Italy with 343, Wales on 334 and then England and India.

''The players really worked hard, putting in dedicated practice before and after the game, making sure they had enough rest and liquids required by the extreme heat,'' said team manager and former Asian Games Gold Medallist Rishi Narain.

''It's the best finish ever by an Indian team and lot of credit goes to these four for their hard work. They did India proud and earned the respect of the other teams.'' Twenty countries, including Austria, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, Norway and Sweden took part in the competition.
