HP government clears 52 more industrial units

Shimla, Jun 3: The Himachal Pradesh government has granted clearance to 52 more industrial units with investment of Rs 1,208 crore, which would provide employment to 5,682 people.

This clearance was granted at the 21st meeting of the state Single Window Clearance and Monitoring Authority held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Singh said, the industrial friendly environment had succeeded in attracting 7,181 small, medium and large industrial units to the state with an investment of Rs 18,278.49 crore. These units were expected to provide employment to around 2,56,805 people during last three years.

The Chief Minister said that the pollution free climatic conditions were most conducive to the IT/BT entrepreneurs, which were coming forward in large numbers with their proposals to set up units in the state. He said that the surplus power availability was the most vital feature for any industry for its activities and the state had enough power.

He said that every department had been directed to clear all proposals of entrepreneurs.

The Chief Minister said that a number of multinational companies had come forward with numerous proposals to set up manufacturing units in the condusive environment of the state.He said that leading names in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry had set up their units here and in the years to come 60 per cent of the medicines in he country would be manufactured in this hill state.

Mr Singh said that Rs 23.76 crore had been earmarked in this financial year for the infrastructure development in all the industrial areas of the state.

He said that Rs 25 crore had so far been spent by the state government for improving the infrastructure in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh-Parwanoo and Kala Amb industrial areas. He said that 112 bighas of land had been identified for setting up of Inland Container Depot at Barotiwala.

He informed that at todays meeting it had been decided to clear the housing development projects for industrial areas.

Industries Minister Kuldip Kumar said that the New Industrial Policy was being implemented in letter and spirit thereby safeguarding the interests of the state and its people.
