Ganguly shares recipe of tackling bad patch
Kolkata, Jun 3 (UNI) At a time when Sourav Ganguly has been frozen out of the team, the former Indian skipper gave tips to aspiring chess players on how to tackle bad patches.
Talking to them at the a junior chess tournament, the cricketer gave them tips on tackling lean phases that they are bound to face.
''I dont know much chess, but I know one thing that lean phases are bound to come in international career. But one must face it with the right kind of mindset,'' he told the eager ears.
The recipe he prescribed to tackle such a phase was to keep practicing and improve upon the skills that they have so that they can come back with a bang.
''There is no alternative to practice. So practice very hard.
Better yourself. You will find your game sooner or later,'' he said, perhaps picking a leaf out of his life.
''In the last 11 years I have seen much ups and downs. You have to live with it and not get tensed or stressed out by it,'' said one of the most successful captains of India, who is heading for a county stint with the Northants this mid-June.
''People are born with talents. But the successful people are those who can utilise the talent,'' he said.
Ganguly sure knows about ups and downs and careers coming to a standstill before they start properly and comebacks. A veteran of several wars and a one with an idomitable spirit, Ganguly surely left the young chess players inspired with his wise remarks.
