ANKARA, June 3 (Reuters) - Eight people were injured today when an explosion rocked a commercial district of Mersin, a port on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, Turkish television said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the blast. Gas leaks are not uncommon in Turkey. Various militant groups including Kurdish separatists and far-left factions also sometimes carry out bomb attacks on both military and civilian targets.
