Chhattisgarh girls and UP boys win junior basketball crowns

Ludhiana, Jun 3 (UNI) Defending champions Chhattisgarh retained the girls title, while in the boys section UP emerged victorious in the 57th Dhanoa Junior National Basketball Championship which concluded at the Guru Nanak Indoor Stadium here today.

In the finals today, holders Chhattisgarh overcame a spirited challenge from the Delhi girls to emerge victorious by 81-73. The champions led 38-27 at half time.

On the other hand the UP boys completely dominated the match and defeated Delhi 83-67. The half time score was 44-30 in favour of UP.

In the girls finals, Kanwaljit with 32 points was the main scorer for Chhattisgarh. The other scorers for the winners were Navneet (19), Pushpa (12) and Akansha (13). For the losers Akansa (20) and Raspreet (29) were the main scorers.

In the boys section, Sukhjinder (12), Rajneesh (12) and Vishvash (16) were the main scorers for UP, while Himashu (19), Sarwan (14) and Deepak (20) were the main scorers for Delhi.

Kerala took the third spot in the girls section while in the boys section Chhattisgarh took the third place.
