New Delhi, June 3 (UNI) MCD Commissioner Ashok Kumar Nigam has assured the traders in Delhi the ad-hoc licenses of Delhi traders which were kept in abeyance due to sealing and demolitions will be renewed soon.

The assurance from the MCD Commissioner came at a meeting convened by Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy.

Mr Nigam also assured the MCD will not object if traders who removed their shutters during sealing and demolitions wish to put the same again at their establishments but maintaining status as of January 1.

At the meeting, which was also attended by Union Urban Development Secretary Anil Baijal and senior officials of DDA, the trade leaders demanded publication of Tejendra Khanna Committee report, whereas, they also strongly advocated the need of formation of Zonal Development Committees in all the 15 Zones of Delhi.

The traders feel that Delhi being the mega metropolis can not be ruled with one single stick of law as each zone has its own generic problems.

Meanwhile, the confederation of All India traders (CAIT) has complimented Delhi Power Minister Haroon Yusuf for his directions to Electricity companies for restoration of old electricity connections disconnected during sealing and demolition.

A delegation of the CAIT met Mr Yusf on June 1 and apprised him about non-compliance of anti-sealing Act by Electricity Companies.
