Bangalore, Jun 2 (UNI) Expressing grave concern over the campaign launched against the Centre's move to reserve 27 per cent seats for the OBCs in institutions of higher education, the Youth Congress in Karnataka today said it would organise a rally in support of reservation in the city on June nine.

Youth Congress State President Dinesh Gundurao told newspersons here it was the duty of any government to guard the interests of all sections of people and OBCs, who had been "a deprived lot for a long time," deserved more opportunities in higher education.

Claiming that reservations had never affected the chances of talented students, he said it was not proper on the part of medical students and junior doctors to launch a stir ignoring the interests of patients suffering in government hospitals.

On June nine, the Youth Congress would hold a public meeting in support of the proposed reservation and then take out a procession to the Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to Governor T N Chaturvedi, urging the Centre to implement the proposal at the earliest.

KPCC General Secretary Veeranna Mattikatti agreed that it was necessary to provide better infrastructure and more faculty in the institutes of higher education before the proposal was implemented.
