''Who is behind attacks on tourists?'' asks Mirwaiz

Srinagar, Jun 2 (UNI) Moderate Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today expressed shock and grief over the death of school children in Wullar Lake boat tragedy on May 30, and also condemned the recent attacks on tourists in Kashmir.

Addressing a Friday congregation at the historic Jamia Masjid here, the Mirwaiz wondered which ''forces or agencies'' were behind the attacks on tourists.

''It is very surprising that the people of Kashmir, political, separatist and militant groups have all condemned the attacks in strongest terms, but despite that such shameless incidents do continue to happen,'' he added.

The Hurriyat Chairman said the people of kashmir were anxious to know who the ''real culprits'' were.

He also offered prayers for the peace of the school children who drowned in the Lake and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.

Mirwaiz Farooq also condemned the firing on the mourners allegedly by the security forces at Watlab on May 31 in which two protestors were killed and several others wounded.
