VP Singh's rally in UP 'imported': SP

Lucknow, June 2 (UNI) Terming former Prime Minister V P Singh's rally in Uttar Pradesh on May 30 as 'imported', the Samajwadi Party said the united face shown by the leaders present was very superficial.

The 'Mukti Sangram' rally, organised by Mr Singh's Jan Morcha, was attended by CPI general secretary A B Bardhan, union ministers Lalu Prasad and Ram Vilas Paswan and Indian Justice Party chief Udit Raj.

On the rally, senior SP leader and former Union minister Beni Prasad Verma said the rally had imported leaders and imported supporters.

Commenting on the rally and the speeches of the leaders present, UP Congress president Salman Khurshid said here that while his party was not part of the meeting, it was interested in what was said by the participants. ''Leaders who were once close to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav were seen criticising him...it is important as he is fast losing support,'' said Mr Khurshid.
