Total vehicle sales up 45 pc 44,357; exports up 33 pc

Mumbai, Jun 2 (UNI) Tata Motors reported a total sale of 44,357 vehicles (including exports) for May this year, a growth of 45 per cent over 30,593 vehicles sold in the same month last year.

Cumulative sales for the company at 80,931 are growing by 49 per cent.

The company's sales of commercial vehicles in May in the domestic market were 21,903, an increase of 64 per cent over 13,338 vehicles sold in the same period last year, the release said.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 41,577, an increase of 92 per cent over last year.

Cumulative M&HCV sales stood at 24,799, an increase of 85 per cent over last year while LCV sales for the fiscal were 16,778, an increase of 103 per cent over last year.

The growth in May is on a low base as compared to the same period last year, due to unanticipated difficulties in certification and procurement of some critical parts, the release added.
