Three NSCN (IM) cadres arrested in Arunachal

Itanagar, Jun 2 (UNI) Three NSCN (IM) cadres were arrested with a Chinese made 9 mm pistol near the district hospital at Khonsa, headquarters of Tirap district in Arunachal, on May 30 last, official sources informed today.

Police recovered a mobile phone, extortion notes and incriminating documents, the sources said, adding a joint team of police officers and intelligence organisations interrogated them.

Sustained pressure mounted jointly by the security forces on the under ground elements in the district resulted in the outcome.

The intensified efforts after the security coordination meeting six months ago had resulted in the arrest of nine underground militants and recovery of arms and ammunition.

The state cabinet had approved an incentive and rehabilitation package for the misguided youths, who had gone underground, the sources informed.
