Sino-Indian army delegates conduct BPM in Arunachal border

Itanagar, June 2 (UNI) A delegation of the Chinese Army held a Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) with the Indian Army on May 30 at Bumla in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, according to official sources.

Post Indo-China war in 1962,sustained efforts have been made by the countries to improve bilateral relations.

The delegations of the two countries exchanged dialogue which is considered a positive step as the BPM held every year is a confidence Building Measure(CBM).

The celebration commenced with the Indian delegation receiving their Chinese counterpart at the Heap of Stone,followed by a formal interaction between the sides. Indian delegation leader Brig Abhay Kumar,VSM, extended heartiest felicitations and warm greetings to his Chinese counterparts, sources disclosed.

The meeting was followed by a cultural programme, which depicted the rich heritage of the two nations.

This time, unlike previous years, the Chinese spontaneously contributed towards the show by presenting five entertainment items.

The highlight of the event was the social interaction during which officers, families and children from both sides interacted informally, further strengthening the bonds of friendship.

Later leaders of both delegations wished good luck, peace and prosperity to each other and promised to maintain peace and tranquility between the two countries.

The event culminated with an exchange of gifts and photo session and finally the delegations parted with fond memories, sources added.
