Sensex up 300 pts; touches a high of 10,362
Mumbai, June 2 (UNI) The upward trend at the BSE Sensex continued during the mid-afternoon session, influenced by firm performance of the Asian markets.
Breaking the jinx of the past two days, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) touched a high of 10,362 points and was trading at 10,333.07, as compared to the previous close of 10,071.42.
Experts in the market feel that ease in the global oil prices has led to positive buying, resulting in an upward swing of the oil and gas indices by 2.58 per cent. The metal indices on the BSE have also performed well till now and have gained by 2.49 per cent. Hindalco was up by 5.35 per cent at 1345 hrs.
Losers on the BSE indices were - midcap down by 2.53 per cent, smallcap down by 3.95 per cent and consumer durables down by 2.81 per cent.
Major scrips which have gained on the BSE-30 index are - Maruti Udyog, up by 9.86 per cent, Tata Motors was up by 6.56 per cent, Housing Development Finance Corporation by 5.97 per cent, Ranbaxy by 4.78 per cent, ONGC by 4.73 per cent, HLL by 4.47 per cent, Wipro 4.20 per cent, Bharti Tele Ventures by 4.10 and Reliance Industries by 3.74 per cent.
Besides, the scrips losing on the Sensex are - Reliance Energy and Tata power, by 2.32 per cent and 1.18 per cent, respectively.
