Saxena takes over as the new director of IIT Roorkee

Hardwar, June 2 (UNI) Dr S C Saxena of the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, has taken over as the new Director of IIT Roorkee, after the retirement of Prof Prem Vrat.

Dr Saxena, an alumni of Roorkee University of Engineering and Technology (now IIT Roorkee), is an eminent electrical engineer.

Dr Saxena said he would strive to make the IIT Roorkee, the oldest technical institution of Asia, one of the top most institutes of the world.

The institution would be made a centre of excellence for higher studies and research in various disciplines of engineering and technology.
