SAP beat youth to death during polling

Kahalgaon, Bihar, June 2 (UNI) A Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) jawan beat a youth to death in his bid to control an unruly mob during the seventh phase of Panchayat elections at Kodwar village under Kahalgaon block in Bhagalpur district today.

Official sources said the victim Mukesh Mandal was going to a booth at Kodwar village to cast his vote, when SAP jawans tried to chase away an unruly crowd who were creating disturbance in the polling process.

During the chase, the SAP jawan caught hold of Mukesh and beat him up mercilessly leading to his death on the spot.

Later, irate villagers put up a blockade on Ghoga-Kodwar road with the body of the victim demanding action against the guilty police personnel and adequate compensation.

Senior district officials had rushed to the spot to control the situation.
