Rs 32,000 fined from errant drivers in Kashmir on single day
Srinagar, Jun 2 (UNI) A record amount of Rs 32,000 as fine was realised from as many as 315 vehicles in a single day on May 30 for violating traffic norms in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said today.
He said the Traffic Police has launched a vigorous drive to curb violation of the Motor Vehicle Act in the city.
The department booked 315 vehicles under different offences during its special checking on May 30, the spokesman added.
He said a fine of Rs 32,000 was realised from the errant drivers.
About 89 scooterist and motor cycle drivers were booked as their pillion riders had not used helmets.
Seventeen vehicles were fined for overloading while 66 were seized for not possessing pollution under control certificates and alteration of route permits, the spokesman said.
