Rathore soars to third, Manavjit to second in rankings

New Delhi, June 2 (UNI) Following his gold medal finish at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt last month, ace marksman Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has soared in rankings and the Athens Olympic silver medallist is now among top three double trap shooters of the world.

Rathore, who has also booked a Beijing Olympic berth, jumped four places up from his previous seventh spot in the latest rankings.

Swede Hakan Dahlby, with 2728 rating points, tops the leaderboard while Russia's Mosin Vasiliy (1934) takes the second spot.

Elsewhere, trap shooter Manavjit Singh Sandhu, who also booked an Olympic berth in Cairo, soared to second place from his previous ninth rank, with 1457 points.

Ace rifle markman Gagan Narang, who climbed to the top of the heap after shooting gold at first World Cup of the season in China, is now second in the men's 10m Air Rifle rankings. Compatriot Abhinav Bindra is placed 24th.

However, a horribly out of form Samresh Jung slipped whopping 16 places to 43rd in 50m pistol event.
