Rahul Mahajan in ICU for suspected poisoning, key aide dead

New Delhi, June 2 (UNI) A month after former BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan's death, his son Rahul was battling for life at Apollo Hospital here today following suspected poisoning.

Mr Mahajan's private secretary Vivek Moitra was brought dead to the hospital. The two were rushed to the hospital early today from Mr Mahajan's Safdarjang Road residence where they fell ill on consuming liquor, apparently laced with some poisonous substance.

A bottle of champagne and a polythene bag with a white substance was found from his residence, DCP New Delhi range Manish Aggarwal told reporters.

Police was looking for three people who were with Rahul and Vivek last night for nearly 45 minutes, he said.

''It could be a case of toxication in natural course,'' he said to a question while talking to reporters outside the hospital.

He, however, made it clear that police was looking at ''all angles'' into the crime.

A team of experts from the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) was examining the contents of the champagne bottle which they had consumed and the white powder recovered from the house, he said.

So far no one has been detained in this connection.
