Park and Sorenstam return to do Lexus battle

SINGAPORE, Jun 2 (Reuters) Thrashed by an Annika Sorenstam-led team of Internationals at last year's inaugural Lexus Cup, Asian team captain Grace Park today vowed to wreak revenge at this year's Singapore event.

''My strategy is to win every match, win every day and win the cup,'' the South Korean smiled on video at a news conference staged by the hosting Tanah Merah Country Club.

''I am thrilled to be back to captain the Asian team. This year, definitely, my team is going to be ready to win -- I am going to be ready to win.'' Sorenstam will again lead the International team at the 960,000 dollars event, which will this year be sanctioned by the LPGA.

The Swede captained her side to a 16-8 victory in 2005.

''We had a lot of fun last time,'' she said. ''It's a first-class event and will finish the season really well.'' Last year the teams were selected by the two captains.

With LPGA sanctioning, this year's qualification process will be more formal.

The two 12-member teams will be selected based on players' rankings and season earnings plus two captains' picks and two sponsors' exemptions.

The event will take place on Tanah Merah's Garden Course from December 15-17.
