Nagpur, June 2 (UNI) Republican Party of India (RPI-G) President R S Gavai said the anti-reservation doctors' lobby should oppose the management quota and capitation fees instead of opposing the reservation for OBC in educational institutions.

Talking to newsmen here yesterday, Mr Gavai disapproved the country-wide agitation by doctors against reservation for OBC and questioned the merit of would-be doctors who took admission after paying hefty capitation fees.

Supporting the UPA Government's move to introduce reservation for OBC in the educational institutions, he said the ongoing opposition to reservation was not scientific. Those getting relaxation for admission anyway has to prove their merit in the examination, he said.

He said, ''It is surprising that we do not see a whimper of protest when people on basis of their money-power manage to get admission into medical and engineering institutions though they do not have requisite merit for the same.'' It should be noted that the agitation launched by SC/ST people was to counter the wrong propaganda of anti-OBC reservation lobby, he added.
