Neyveli Lignite to set up thermal power plant in Orissa

New Delhi, Jun 2 (UNI) Tamil Nadu-based public sector undertaking, Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), has proposed to set up a 2000 Mega Watts (MW) coal-based Power Plant in Orissa.

According to official sources, the tentative cost of the project would be Rs 8000 crore. Coal India has identified the source of coal for this project. NLC Board approved the Advance Action Proposal (AAP) and it was sent to the Ministry of Coal.

The Ministry has also approved the AAP for the project with an outlay of Rs 18.65 crore. An amount of Rs 0.10 crore and Rs one crore has been provided in the revised estimate 2005-06 and budge estimate 2006-07 respectively for initial activities.
