In a letter to the Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr Shankaracharya the saint urged him to maintain the country's Hindu status irrespective of its democratic constitution. It was the only Hindu country of the world and it should reflect its Hindu identity in the globe, he added.
There were ample examples in history about Hindu kings ruling their subjects without prejudice to any particular religion, he told a news conference here.
He said during the time of Aadi Shanker who first established the Goberdhan Peeth at Puri, Nepal was placed under the Peeth here and added it was now his duty to provide directions to the Nepali people.
