Mohameddan take giant strides on day one of transfers

Kolkata, Jun 02 (UNI) Mohameddan Sporting continued to rock in the inter-club transfers when they roped in some of the big names of the maidan on day-one of the signings.

They brought in Habibur Rehman, Kuluthangan, Debjit Ghosh and Mike Okoro (all East Bengal) and Noel Wilson (Mohun Bagan) for some high profile signings.

The same day East Bengal roped in the services of Chandan Das.

Chandan, who had been ''hijacked'' by the Mohameddan Sporting authorities, had alleged that he had been forcefully retained by the club administrators when he had gone to meet his former coach Subhas Bhowmik.

''Now I am back to where I belong,'' he said on returning to the East Bengal fold. While he signed for the red-golds, TFA's Gurjinder Singh also signed the dotted lines in the club's favour.

Meanwhile, East Bengal has assured the services of Hardeep Singh Saini of Sporting Clube de Goa and have also convinced Rasim Akhtar to stay back, after the goalkeeper had gone to IFA for an inter-state transfer.

Mohameddan Sporting, meanwhile, didn't bring the controversial players like Rahim Nabi, Malswamatulunga and M Suresh from East Bengal, they have taken last season's Bagan captain Mehtab Hossain to their hideout and a controversy seems to be brewing on that front too.

Bagan has claimed that Hossain has taken advance from them and they are sure of the player's services next season, just like the East Bengal administrators who are confident of the services of the three players sporting didn't produce today.
