Minor kidnapped and raped; traced in Kolkata

Mumbai, Jun 2 (UNI) Police have arrested a 20-yr-old youth from Kolkata for allegedly kidnapping and raping a teenaged girl, a resident of Sion suburb in North Central Mumbai, last month.

Police today said on May nine, the victim went missing following which her mother lodged a complaint with Sion police station.

Later, upon investigation police traced the accused - Mofijali Sheikh (20) and the 13-yr-old victim in Kolkata, where he had allegedly taken her and then raped her.

Sheikh was arrested there on May 23 and then produced before a Metropolitan court, which remanded him to police custody till yesterday.

Mumbai police yesterday brought him on a transit remand here and a case has been lodged against him.

Further investigation is on, police added.
