Maulana Bail plea adjourned to June 16
Mumbai, June 2 (UNI) A local court today adjourned to June 16, the bail plea application of Maulana Ghulam Mohammed Yahya Baksh arrested on January this year.
When the matter was called up for hearing before Additional Sessions Judge C D Gongle, the investigating officer sought the adjournment and informed the court that state had appointed a special public prosecutor in this case who is at present out of country.
Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Mumbai police had arrested the 44-year-old Maulana of the prestigious Haj House here for suspected links with the Lashkar-e-Toiba on January 14 this year.
Baksh is the fourth suspected LeT member arrested from Mumbai since a crackdown began after a suspected Lashkar gunman sprayed bullets at a gathering of scientists in Bangalore.
Earlier, the ATS had arrested three LeT men from Nagpada area of the city on January six. The ATS believes the Maulana could lead the police to other modules as he was the key 'contact man' for LeT and the financer for them.
Baksh has been booked under sections 16 (conniving), 18 (Connspiring) and 19 (harbouring terrorists) of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
