Malaysia expects 20 million tourists next year
Shimla, Jun 2 (UNI) About 20 million tourists are expected to visit Malaysia in 2007 under the ''Visit Malaysia Year'' campaign to celebrate the country's fiftieth year of independence from British imperialism.
Addressing a press conference here, Tourism Malaysia's Marketing Manager Bhupesh Kumar said 20 million tourists, including three lakh from India, were expected during the country's fiftith year of independence next year.
''The number of Indian tourists visiting Malaysia from India has been rising steadily and had reached 2.5 lakh in 2005, it is likely to touch three lakh next year,'' he said.
Mr Kumar said Malaysian tourists were also showing a keen interest in visiting the country, including Jaipur in Rajasthan, and several had travelled to the hills in the last few years.
The Malaysia tourism also announced the launching of summer package of Rs 14,999 for three nights, for Indians planning to visit the country this summer, he said.
The manager said the cost included two night stay at Kuala Lumpur, one night at Genting Highlands, accommodation with breakfast and airport transfers, half day city tour and free entry to outdoor theme park at Genting Highlands.
Announcing the launching of another summer package for Indian tourists without airfare, he said this would cost 69 Dollars for four nights and included accommodation with breakfast and airport transfers.
Mr Kumar said the package provided the flexibility to the traveller to choose the preferred airline and the departure city in the country.
