K'taka HC rejects petition seeking more teeth for Lok Ayukta
Bangalore, June 2 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today rejected at the preliminary stage itself, without issuing notice to the respondent - the State Government - a petition seeking to empower the Lok Ayukta to enable him to prosecute corrupt officers.
The petition, quoting media reports that as on July 15, 2005, the Lok Ayukta had registered 14,546 complaints, also sought a direction to initiate immediate action against the erring officials.
Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice N Kumar rejected the petition, observing that it could not act on media reports only as the petitioner had not produced sufficient material to enable the court to take action.
