Justice Garg to probe Meerut inferno
Lucknow, June 2 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today appointed a retired High Court judge to probe into the Meerut Trade Fair inferno, which has left at least 60 people dead.
A home department spokesperson said here that Justice Om Prakash Garg had been appointed to probe reasons, which led to the inferno and subsequent handling of the situation by the district administration.
He will submit his report in six months' time.
On April 10, a fire had broke out at the Victoria Park which left at least 60 people dead and over 100 njured.
The bail plea of the three organisers of the trade fair was recently rejected by a court.
Most of the injured are still getting treatment in Delhi, Noida and Meerut hospitals. Anuj was the latest victim, who succumbed to his injuries last month in Meerut.
