Jaya Bachchan is richer by Rs 15 crore since 2004

Lucknow, June 2 (UNI) Filmstar-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan, who has now changed her name to Bachchan Jaya Amitabh, has become richer by about Rs 15 crore since she last declared her assets in 2004.

Jaya, who filed her nomination as Samajwadi Party candidate for the by-election to Rajya Sabha yesterday, in her affidavit, declared she had movable and immovable properties including cash and jewellery worth Rs 37 crore.

In 2004 RS nomination, she had declared her assets worth around Rs 22 crore.

The increase in worth may be attributed to her acquisition of a plush residence 'Jalsa' in Mumbai.

She has shown Rs 7.67 lakh in cash, while deposits in banks, financial institutions and non-banking financial companies stood at Rs 11.41 lakh.

Her bonds, debentures and shares in companies were worth Rs three crore, while the cost of her vehicles - Toyota Qualis and Toyota Lexus is Rs 26.16 lakh.

She has jewellery worth Rs 3.67 crore and other assets worth Rs 16.41 crore.

While Jaya owns a plot in Film City, Noida valued at Rs 35 lakh, she also has a flat worth Rs 25 lakh in Bhopal and another in Mumbai estimated at Rs 13.50 crore. Interest on the property amounts to Rs 7.50 lakh.

In the 2004 declaration, she had cash worth Rs 14.38 lakhs; deposits in banks, financial institutions Rs 18.87 lakh; bonds, shares and debentures Rs 309.04 lakhs' motor vehicles including Toyota Qualis, Toyota Lexus and Mitsubishi Lancer totaling Rs 40 lakhs; jewellery Rs 91.30 lakh; and other assets Rs 1734.94 lakh.

Besides, the immovable assets: non-agricultural land at Noida Film City measuring 450 sq metre Rs 30 lakh; housing apartment at Shamla Hills (1630.54 sq feet area) Rs 18 lakh; and others such as interest in property Rs 6.25 lakh.

Her husband Amitabh Bachchan was, however, much ahead in movable and immovable properties. With Rs 69.78 lakh cash, Bachchan's bank deposits stood at Rs 3.27 crore and Rs 133 crore worth of bonds and debenture.

While Jaya owned just two cars, Amitabh had 11 vehicles valued at Rs 2.22 crore as per the affidavit. Amitabh also had gold ornaments, silver articles, diamonds, pearls, rubies and watches worth Rs 2.91 crore. His other assets were estimated to cost Rs 29.56 crore.

Interestingly, Amitabh has in his name 0.25 hectares of agricultural land at Daualatpur village in Barabanki district, adjacent to Lucknow.
